  • How much do lessons cost?

    30 minutes - £40

    1 hour - £60

  • Are you qualified to work with children?

    Alistair is fully DBS checked and has taught the Trumpet in schools for almost a decade. He has taken part in numerous rounds of safeguarding training to ensure the safety of all children.

  • How long will it take to sound good?

    The trumpet is an instrument that requires patience, as it can be tricky to learn how to make a good sound. However, it is an extremely rewarding instrument and if you stay dedicated, you can expect to see great results within a year.

  • What age is right to start learning?

    Waiting until at least 7 years old before starting the Trumpet is recommended, due to teeth development,

  • Where do lessons take place?

    Dance Attic Studio in Fulham Broadway or online.

  • What styles of music do you teach?

    Jazz, Classical and Pop music. If there’s something in particular you’d like to learn just ask!

  • How often do lessons take place?

    Lessons take place weekly during school term time. Additionally, lessons can be arranged during holidays subject to availability. Due to high demand, bi-weekly or ad hoc lessons are not available.

  • Do you offer a trial lesson?

    You can book a one-off introductory session, before committing for the term. (This will be charged as normal)

  • Do I need to own a trumpet before my first lesson?

    A trumpet can be provided for an introductory lesson. After that we’re very happy to advise on purchasing or hiring a trumpet.

  • Can I play the trumpet with Braces?

    Yes!

  • I'm an adult beginner - is it too late to start?

    No, it’s never too late to discover the joy of learning an instrument. With commitment, it is very possible to progress from beginner to intermediate/advanced.

  • Can you advise on instrument maintenance?

    Absolutely, you will learn how to oil valves and clean the trumpet.

  • Do you prepare students for Grade Exams?

    Yes! We have a great track record preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity Grades.

  • Can I really make progress through online lessons?

    Absolutely! Online lessons are no different too in person ones in content. Many students find to fit these around their busy schedules.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    We don’t allow cancellation within 48 hours of a lesson.

  • Which other Brass instruments do you teach?

    All of them!
